"Haganvelt" is the culmination of experimental band Loather's work so far, and presents a fully developed soundscape incorporating diverse influences ranging from dark styles such as black metal, gothic rock and doom metal to more somber tones usually found in folk rock or ambient. Bookended by atmospheric, reverb-laden passages that seem to envelop the listener in a deep fog, the heavy rhythms of tracks "New Mourning" and "Stable Mind" set the tone for the emotional release of "Like Trees", which constitutes a counterpoint to the raw material beforehand by starting off with 12-string guitar and haunting vocals, only to return once again to the fuzz of cold darkness.
